If you have stomach problems that won't go away and feel like you've tried everything, you're not alone. It can be hard to get your gut healthy, but I am sharing my story and explaining the five important steps that finally helped me.

  • Consider a low FODMAP, specific carbohydrate, or carnivore diet temporarily.
  • Identify and eliminate gut irritants such as artificial flavors.

Step 2: Utilize Fasting

Intermittent fasting serves a dual purpose, as it not only aids in weight reduction but also plays a crucial role in promoting gut healing. Incorporate daily fasting intervals lasting 12 to 16 hours to provide your digestive tract with sufficient time for repair during periods of non-digestion. Implementing this step can serve as a potent instrument in your endeavour to enhance your digestive well-being.

Step 3: Fix Gut Motility

  • Poor gut motility is highlighted as a crucial, often overlooked factor in SIBO.
  • Emphasizes the importance of the vagus nerve and its role in digestive functions.
  • Recommends monitoring heart rate variability (HRV) as an indicator of autonomic nervous system balance.
  • Suggests nutrients like thiamine (Vitamin B1), choline, and Vitamin B5 to support gut motility.
  • Highlights the benefits of activities like sauna to improve parasympathetic tone.

Step 4: Improve Digestive Output

  • If symptoms persist, focus on enhancing stomach acid, bile flow, and digestive enzymes.
  • Recommends apple cider vinegar, betaine HCL, and digestive bitters.

Step 5: Address Residual Overgrowth

  • Use antimicrobial therapy based on the type of overgrowth (hydrogen, methane, or hydrogen sulfide dominant).
  • Considers leveraging beneficial probiotics to aid in clearing overgrowth.
  • Recommends a post-therapy phase with nutrients like colostrum, butyrate, and lactoferrin to support gut healing.
